THE PSALMS OF RA
Ancient Egyptian and Hebrew Texts Set to Contemporary Sacred Music by Jim Berenholtz

The Psalms of RA is an acoustic ritual of neo-ancient music by world musician/composer Jim Berenholtz. It brings ancient Egyptian and Hebrew texts alive through unique orchestrations combining singers and Western symphonic instruments with traditional Near Eastern winds, strings and percussion. Celebrating the sun as our common ancestor and source of light, The Psalms of RA offers a new vision of a spiritual foundation for peace in the Middle East. The recent arrival of major Egyptian antiquities for museum exhibitions in Southern California also provides a timely inspiration for this concert.

Featured performers include Lebanese ethnomusicologist Ali Jihad Racy (composer of the 1970's Tutankhamun soundtrack) and conductor Juan-Felipe Orrego, who has worked extensively with major orchestras and opera houses in Europe and South America and has been a frequent guest conductor with the Monday Evening Concert Series at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Hosting the event is designer Xorin Balbes, founder of Temple Homes and Global Vision for Peace. Join us for this special evening of live sacred music paralleling the journey of the soul.

Presented by Hu Ra Records and Global Vision for Peace.
