YABAS / QUEENS

Butterflies, buffalos, rivers, and seas are called forth and transformed under the pulse of the vital energy of the Orixa Queens. Viver Brasil pays tribute to the carnival queen through movement and rhythm of the renowned Carnaval parade from Salvador, Bahia in Brazil and comes alive in the choreography of Luiz Badaró and Rosangela Silvestre.

The eight dancers and four musicians of the company are led by co-artistic directors, Luiz Badaró and Linda Yudin. Special guest Dona Cici, who is the Iya Ilê Fun of the Temple of Opo Aganju joins Viver Brasil for this celebratory performance honoring the female elements of the Candomblé and Carnaval.

Presented by Viver Brasil Dance Company and sponsored by Soul Brasil Magazine and Dance Arts Academy. This event is part of the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series 2005.
