Watts
Towers Day of the Drum
Little
did Simon Rodia know when he purchased the triangular
lot on East 107th Street and began construction on the
masterpiece he called "Nuestro Pueblo" (Our Town) that
it would become one of the most treasured sites in Southern
California, revered for its singular vision and beauty.
In the context of this unique monument to the human
spirit, the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department
and Friends of the Watts Towers Arts Center present
the 21st Annual Day of the Drum, a celebration of international
percussion featuring Japanese, African, jazz, Native
American, and other drummers. A spirited event for all
ages.
