Sheltering Faith: Sukkot for All
Synergy

A celebration of humanity's transition from the limited perspective of slavery to the freedom of individual and community creativity and development, this ceremony—open to all—recalls the forty-year wanderings of the ancient Israelites under the leadership of Moses, Aaron, and Joshua following their miraculous escape from bondage in Egypt. The Sukkot, or booths, in which the ancient Israelis found shelter during their wanderings, are a contemporary reminder that real security lies not in the physical structures we build in the world, but in the spiritual protection of a higher reality. This deeper meaning of the Sukkot holiday is recalled through traditional and contemporary compositions of classical Jewish music and text performed by Synergy, a performance ensemble of the Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity, under the artistic direction of Vanessa Paloma. Hosted by Adat Shalom.
