Peace and Unity Concert
Under its spiritual leader Swamini Turiyasangitananda, Sai Anantam Ashram in Agoura, California, serves as a sanctuary where seekers of all faiths can receive and experience sublime teachings on spiritual life. Chanting bhajans in sanskrit with strong gospel overtones, the multiethnic Ashram Community Singers will be joined in concert by the youthful Trilokyum Dancers in a performance that is emblematic of the ashram's dedication to mentoring young people int he arts and spiritual practice. Included in the program will be excerpts from the Indian classical dance, Bharata Natyam, Indian and African contemporary dance, and a special piece about the human cost of war in response to the recent events in Afghanistan. Performers include Krishni Myers, Ayodhya Jones, and Gopika Womack Freeman, the choreographer for the modern Afro/India dance repertoire.
