Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadic: Krushevo
In this ingenious pairing of deeply felt music, sitar virtuoso Kartik Seshadri—one of India's outstanding musicians and the foremost disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar—masterfully presents the Indian classical music form known as Raga Sangeet, which can be traced back nearly two thousand years to its origin in the Vedic hymns of the Hindu temples. Steeped in the ancient oral musical tradition passed directly from guru to student, Seshadri is a master of the raga—the melodic form upon which the artist improvises and reveals the manifestation of his inner spirit.

Performing traditional music of Macedonia on acoustic guitars, Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadic are two of Eastern Europe's most innovative and improvisational guitarists. The title of the their program, Krushevo, refers to a beautiful old Macedonian town high in the mountains. The piece draws from the musicians' deep and diverse musical experiences to create a highly innovative blend of flamenco, blues and jazz, which bears witness to the rich, mysterious, and deeply emotional traditional music of that land. A presentation of the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.
