Inekari: The Harvest Celebration

A family-oriented exploration of the importance of rice or kome in Japanese, Asian, and world cultures, this outdoor celebration of the rice harvest will include demonstrations of traditional village planting and harvesting. The plaza will be filled with special displays illuminating the central role rice plays in Asian cultures, food booths offering kome edibles, and hands-on craft activities for children. The celebration will begin with a purification ceremony, followed by ongoing performances representing the many countries of Asia that cultivate rice. Presented by the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center.
