Invitation to Sunday Service:
First AME Church Open House

First African Methodist Episcopal Church (First AME) embodies the spirit of love and reconciliation both within its walls and out in the community. Welcoming all people, regardless of race or condition—spiritual, economic, political—the church is a beacon in the community providing education, health, housing, feeding, job procurement, business and incubator loans, venture capital, transportation, adoptions, mentoring, and other outreach ministries. The oldest black congregation in the city of Los Angeles, it was founded by a former slave, Biddy Mason, in 1872. Join Reverend Cecil L. "Chip" Murray, the incomparable Brookinaires Choir, and caring members of the church for a gospel service that embodies the Church's motto, "First to Serve."
