Music & Dance Equinox Celebration featuring Omar Faruk Tekbilek

Come into a living dream high in the Santa Monica Mountains for this afternoon of celebration on the Fall Equinox. Follow a cultural rainbow into the spiritual heart of the many traditions represented in this colorful program. World-renowned Sufi musician, Omar Faruk Tekbilek will be joined by Arie Salama—keyboard; Pejman Hadadipercussion; and Nyofubass. Omar Faruk Tekbilek has been applauded around the world for his deeply evocative and soulful music of traditional Sufi, folk, and contemporary music from the Middle East. Omar invokes mysticism, folklore, and romance in his haunting melodies and uplifting rhythms.

Other renowned artists of the sacred will mesmerize the senses through music, song, dance and ceremony...

Native American spiritual leader, John Funmaker and native singer/ceremonialist, Chante Pearce along with Miguel Rivera will celebrate the four races at the Native American Medicine Wheel located at the site. Award winning composer, Charles Bernstein will perform compositions from his multi-cultural Mass with Linda Jackson, Angie Jarre, and Anindo. Inspirational singer, Lisa Rafael of Space/Time Phenomenon will enchant and uplift, joined by recording artist, Stephen Kent on didjeridu and eclectic cello with drummer, John Densmore (from the Doors). Percussionist, Christo Pellani, Karlito, Miranada Rondeau and Bob Wisdom will accompany dancers, Georgianne Cowan, Aparecida, and Anahata dancing in the environment. Melanie Kareem Middle Eastern Dance Company will dance, Cry of the Heart. African troupe, Abalaye, drummers/dancers will perform traditional dances and songs. Sage and Ember Knight will sing blessings to the earth.
