WATTS TOWER DAY OF THE DRUM FESTIVAL

An artistic masterpiece, Watts Towers is renowned as one of the region’s most important landmarks. It is also a testimony to Simon Rodia’s life-long quest and to the meaning of place and community. It’s lacey towers and undulating walls are the setting for a day long, outdoor celebration that includes music, arts and crafts, exhibits, and wonderful food. Old and new traditions from around the world come together at the 24th Annual Watts Towers Day of the Drum Festival. Offering a rousing rhythmic celebration, this Festival is dedicated to the traditional role of drumming in human societies, and features an adventurous and virtuosic repertoire from African, Asian, Native American, South American, Caribbean and European drummers.

One of the highlights of this event is the Citywide Universal Drum Circle, where drummers honor the transformative power of diverse percussive traditions through the concept of playing in unity as one drum.
