Deep Listening is a collaborative project formed around a mutual admiration for the World Festival of Sacred Music and the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Despite their distinct backgrounds, artists Gilbert Levy and Suzanne Teng have carved similar paths, dedicating their lives to the promotion of peace and tolerance through music. In this special performance, the diverse cultural differences of artists and audiences alike require deep listening and shared spirit as a new dialogue is formed.

Mystic Journey’s ethereal blend of Asian, Middle Eastern and African sounds is a modern reflection of the ancient world. With Suzanne Teng on world flutes and winds; Gilbert Levy on world percussion and Turkish saz; Dann Torres on guitar, oud and electric sitar; and Jon Ossman on upright bass and Indian dalruba; the intercultural ensemble builds soundscapes that are contemplative, ecstatic and energetic. With guest apppearance by classical Javanese vocalist Emiko Saraswati Susilo.

Designed by Lloyd Wright, Wayfarers Chapel is nestled in beautiful gardens with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
